About Marianne Garcia
Marianne Garcia received a Bachelor’s of Art with a major in Microbiology from the University of Texas in Austin in 1976. She spent 31 years in public service at the Texas Department of State Health services working as a microbiologist, branch manager of the Public Health Bacteriology Section, and manager of the Emergency Preparedness Branch. During these years of service, she was involved in developing many workshops, training protocols, and overseeing the quality assurance of the Laboratory Response Network (LRN) for the state of Texas. After retiring from DSHS in 2007, Marianne secured her Texas teaching certification specializing in science grades 8-12. She then spent the next 10 years teaching high school science at Public High School in Texas. She also secured her certification as a medical support hypnotherapist fellow in 2008.
During her years of teaching, she noticed there were students who were struggling on tests, but did well in class. She began to teach them relaxation techniques and self hypnosis practices, and saw a remarkable transformation. During her 10 years of teaching she presented, with administration’s approval”, relaxation activities prior to standardized tests as well as private assistance to struggling students. Encouraged by the results, she worked with the Advanced Placement and college bound students, giving them a repertoire of tools designed to ensure their success at the next level.
Her love for hypnosis grew and in 2017, she completed her teaching career and dedicated full time to the use of her hypnosis skills to assist people make desired changes in their lives. Her specialties are focused on assisting with testing anxiety and medical support hypnosis for dealing with chronic pain, overactive bladder syndrome, and support of treatments for cancer. Although these are her primary passions, she has successfully worked with clients to address insomnia, personal growth, grief and traumatic events.
About Her Training
Marianne P. Garcia received her hypnosis training at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America in Albuquerque, NM., a school which has been providing training under the leadership of Tim Simmerman-Sierra for 30 years. She received her training in 2008 receiving more than 450 hours of classroom and practical training and is currently a member of the International Board of Hypnotherapy (IBH) and a medical support hypnotherapist fellow. In 2018 she received training on the IBH overactive bladder syndrome/urinary urgency protocol.

In order to be a member of the IBH one must have a minimum of 400 hours in a classroom setting at least 100 of which must exclusively be in Medical Support Hypnotherapy from a state licensed hypnotherapy school from a state licensed hypnotherapy school that meets the academic requirements of the IBH. (At least 100 hours exclusively in Medical Support Hypnotherapy — including anatomy, physiology, hypnotherapy methods for accelerated healing, pain control, surgical preparation, post-procedural recovery and childbirth)

Minimum of 30 hours continuing education every 2 years for re-certification (10 of which must be health related.

Adherence to IBH Regulations, including Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice guidelines.
